Gyeongbokgung Palace

It was all so vivid to me. It swept me off my feet. I remember being overwhelmed by the grandiose of it all.

Gyeongbukgung Palace is very memorable to me because it was the first tourist spot that I went to when I came to Seoul.
It is one of the most iconic landmarks in Seoul. Imagine that this was built in 1395 and to think that it is stilll standing right now is mind-blowing.

My friend Shiela from the Philippines came to visit and this is the first place I brought her into. She was amazed.

I just love the contrast of the exquisite palace to the other buildings surrounding it.

Tour around the palace and every corner is like an oasis.

Gyeongbokgung is the filming location of several kdramas including Mother of Mine (2019); Temperature of Love (2017); My Sassy Girl (2017); Chicago Typewriter (2017); Goblin (2016); Queen In-Hyun’s Man (2012)

One of the highlights of this place is the Changing of the Guards ceremony. Whatever weather it is, the guards wear ornate costumes and guards the palace. When they change shifts, it is a spectacle that people anticipate.

Take the subway to Gyeongbokgung Station Line 3 and get off at Exit 5.

The entrance fee is 3,000 won or about 3 usd. You get to enter for free if you are wearing a Hanbok. So if you plan to wear one, rent it first before going to the palace.

In conclusion, it is a must to visit Gyeongbukgung Palace to get the essence of Seoul.
